Frozen The Broadway Musical is now running in London until January 4th, 2026.
This musical adapted from Disney’s original movie Frozen.
It tells the story of the frozen kingdom of Arendelle, centered on sisters Queen Elsa and Princess Anna, for the first time in the Grand Theatre.
Featuring music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, the musical includes beloved songs such as “Let It Go”, “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?”, and “Monster.”
This London, Ontario premiere will be helmed by Grand Theatre Artistic Director Rachel Peake.
“I’m so excited,” said Peake. “We’ve had a great first audience last night, and we’re so excited to bring Frozen to London audiences.”
As the director of this musical, her work begins long before rehearsals begin.
“Working with the designers and building the world, especially in a show like this that’s full of magic and puppetry,” said Peake. “And then we get into rehearsal, and so I am the person who oversees all of the acting and sews together what the choreographer is doing with the movement, what the music director is doing with the music, and the acting of the scenes.”
In addition, Peake said she wanted to convey an important message about the strength of friendship and the strength of sibling relationships through this musical.
This story of young and strong women making a difference and standing together takes audiences on a magical journey with great music.
Peake also said she was really fortunate that this version of the musical opened on Broadway.
“It was a beautiful version, but they actually reworked it for the West End in London, England,” Peake added. “And so we’re doing the West End version, so there’s a song that isn’t even in the Broadway recording.”
“There’s songs that aren’t in the movie, so people who know the story will see the heart of the story they love so much, but they will discover new things about it as well.”
The Choreographer Ainsley Hillyard said Frozen has a lot of very different genres in terms of its music.
“I wanted to stay true to those musical genres when I was designing the choreography. So, there’s many different types of choreography in the musical.”
All the choreography the cast dance on stage is her work.
“We do a kick line at one point. Also, people are doing the worm. There’s floor work.”
Many people, including the creative team, worked hard on the musical.
The same goes for the actors who are on the stage.
Actor Izad Etemadi, who plays Olaf in the musical, explained why the role is special to him.
“I mean, Olaf is such an iconic character from the movie, which, you know, had some pressure to it. But hearing the audience react when Olaf first comes on and hearing the laughter and hearing all the kids get excited about seeing Olaf is really, really special.”
The child actresses, who play the roles of young Elsa and Anna, said they had never had a hard time playing roles in common.
Instead, they added that there were feels only enjoyable to do while preparing for the performance.
The first person to speak up was Oakan Oyafuso, the child actress who plays the role of young Anna.
Oyafuso with a cute smile, and said that her performance in London is “really fun.”
“I really like it. I really enjoy meeting all the people in this play.”
Kylie Prouty, the child actress who plays the role of young Elsa, chose “Magic” as a special strength of the musical.
“It’s magical because Elsa’s powers and Anna is just wanting her to use her powers and it’s just so exciting,” said Prouty. “I love how it’s the love for each other even when Elsa does her magic, hits her heart. Anna still loves her and saves Elsa’s life and I love how that’s really heartfelt.”

“I think this musical is really special because it teaches kids that love can be through relationships too, through a boy and girl but it can also be through best friends and friendship and sisters.”
Weiler answered that the reason why people want to attend this musicals is because it is just so “magical” and beautiful all the way around.
Lastly, Harmony Holder, the child actress who plays the role of young Anna, said that the cast was so kind and generous that it felt like a big happy family and had so much pleasure to act.
Holder sent a message to the audience who came to see this musical.
“I think whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve. So, believe in yourself and come see the show!”
This musical is welcome to anyone, but especially recommended for children over the age of five.
