Giving Tuesday is right around the corner. The global movement is an opportunity for people to get into the holiday spirit by giving back to their communities.
One of many organizations gathering donations this year is Pillar Non-Profit Network. Pillar helps to support non-profit and grassroots groups across the province.
“Many organizations operate on a very tight budget, so days like this can make a real difference in how we serve our communities throughout the year,” said Anahi Gonzalez. She works on Fund Development and is a Member Specialist at Pillar.
The 2025 campaign is focusing on grassroots organizers, with money raised going towards the Inclusive Community Events Program.
Pillar’s initiative gives equity-denied groups access to Innovation Works spaces. The downtown building has both meeting and event spaces for the community to utilize.
The spaces can be utilized to host a wide range of activities. These include cultural celebrations, workshops, art events, leadership gatherings and other community-building events.
“We’re also hoping more people learn about the incredible [people] behind these events. [Organizers are] building belonging in the city every day and [the campaign] is a chance to uplift their work,” added Gonzalez.
Teppermans has collaborated with the network to boost the impact of the funds gathered. The business is matching any donations made up to $1,000.
“It strengthens the social fabric of London and reminds us that we’re all part of creating a more caring, connected city,” said Gonzalez about the impact of donations.
