A fresh blast of snow has created slick and treacherous driving conditions across the London region Wednesday, prompting a snowfall warning and significant travel disruptions.
Police shut down the westbound lanes of Highway 401 at Wonderland Road South after a tractor trailer jackknifed in the morning hours. Officials later said at around 7:50 a.m. the highway had reopened.
The weather also forced widespread school transportation disruptions. All school purpose vehicles serving Middlesex, Oxford and Elgin counties as well as the red zone are cancelled for the day. However, school bus routes within the City of London are running as scheduled.
Authorities continue to urge drivers to slow down, leave extra time, and avoid non-essential travel as crews work to clear and salt major routes.
