Canada will not be considering a ban on the social media platform X, despite artificial intelligence controversy.
X is currently under criticism over the websites AI chatbot GROK. With GROK, users can create ai created images and videos with prompts. There is an option for users to turn on an 18+ mode that can generate sexual content.
Recently GROK has been able to modify pictures posted by other users, which has spawned sexualized ai content of celebrities, people in power, and whoever posts a picture of themselves online.
Artificial Intelligence Minister, Evan Solomon says Canada is not considering a ban of the social media platform X.
“Deepfake sexual abuse is violence, we must protect Canadians, especially women and young people, from exploitation,” wrote Solomon in a post on X.
Discussions about artificial intelligence is being discussed in government and the introduction of “Bill C-16 , the Protecting Victims Act, to amend the Criminal Code to include deepfakes as intimate images for the offence of publication of an intimate image without consent,” wrote Solomon

Malaysia and Indonesia banned access to GROK, while countries like France, India, Brazil and others are in discussions to follow.
