The Middlesex Masters Soccer League is pitching in to help feed kids.
St. Pius X Catholic School received a $2,500 donation from the league, with the funds going towards the school’s nutrition program.
St. Pius’ Principal Mark Chortos accepted the cheque Monday morning, coming from the hands of Juergen Belle, the Chair of the Middlesex Masters.
“Food and security, especially among children is on the tips of everyone’s tongues.” said Ben Giancola, Director of the Middlesex Masters.
Giancola added to that, saying the donation was a unanimous yes from its members.
“We’re a community organization, and we have the benefit of our large membership. When we communicated these challenges to our members, our members voted and wanted to help.”
“It’s a great addition to what they already have.” said Gabe Pizzuti, Chair of the London District Catholic School Board (LDCSB).
Pizzuti praised the Middlesex Masters for their thought and cooperation.
“They saw the need, they came to me and asked me how they could pursue this… I think they really fell in love with it.”
The league stated that they aren’t done giving back, and they will discuss future opportunities with their members.
