Since the price of ground beef has risen and climate change has impacted crop harvesting, McDonald’s has decided to halt the prices of their McValue meals and their coffee.
Annemarie Swijtink made the decision today to keep the price of coffee $1 and the price of the McValue meals $5. Swijtink says that the reason they’re doing this is because it’s what the customers are looking for.
“Canadians are facing challenges and are insecure financially. What we are doing is listening and giving them what they want,” Said Swijtink.
A lot of discourse online has started with the rising prices of McDonald’s items such as the Big Mac and limited time items.
“If you’re that consumer, you’re driving up to the restaurant and you’re seeing combo meals could be priced over $10 and that absolutely is shaping value perceptions and shaping value perceptions in a negative way,” Said CEO of McDonald’s, Christopher Kempczinski.
She stated that the biggest thing right now is to keep the heart of the customers during this time.
