Western University’s sustainable procurement program was presented with the Sustainable Purchasing Leadership Council’s (SPLC) Leadership Award in the Overall Program category.
The program ensures that every Western purchase has the best social, ethical, and environmental impact, making Western a leader in sustainable procurement across all Canadian universities and colleges.
Western’s Director of Procurement Services Kristen McGill says the award was an amazing accomplishment for the program.
“It’s a testament to the breadth and depth of our program and the extent Western has embedded sustainability into all of our procurement practices, systems and tools”.
Sustainable procurement is the process of buying goods by integrating environmental, social, and governance with other considerations.
Western also encourages students and faculty to buy using their Sustainable Procurement Guide.
