Despite snowy weather and cold temperatures, customers lined up inside Chungchun Rice Dog at 750 Richmond St. on Thursday for a chance to receive a free Korean rice dog.
The giveaway offered the first 50 customers their choice of any rice dog on the menu. According to owner and manager Naman Grover, the event was designed to attract more customers.
“This offer was to spread the word that we are out there,” Grover said. “It’s pretty cold and it’s snowing. Our food is comforting and hot, so people would like it.”
Customers who attended the giveaway said social media played a big role in bringing them out.
Finch, who visited Chungchun for the first time, said he had been curious about the restaurant before seeing the promotion.
“I’ve seen it around before and had been wanting to try it, so when I saw they had the event, I decided to come by.”
Another customer, Andy, said a friend sent him an Instagram reel promoting the giveaway.
Chungchun Rice Dog is a popular, fast-growing Korean fast-food chain specializing in customizable Korean-style corn dogs. Founded in Seoul in 2017, the chain has expanded to over 300 locations internationally, including Canada.
Grover also noted that although the fast food spot has been open for four years, this was the first time it has ever hosted a giveaway in London.
In addition to the giveaway, Chungchun is now offering students a 10 per cent discount with valid ID until May 1.
Grover hopes promotions like this will continue to attract new customers and keep business steady during the winter months.
