A 65-year old St. Thomas man has been charged in connection to an assault investigation.
The incident took place on Tuesday where St. Thomas police allege the man followed a 16-year old kid to the parking lot and hit him.
Fanshawe students gave their advice and tips on how to combat road rage.
Shane Hill, a Fanshawe student says that he has seen a few people run reds light before.
“I’ve had a couple people run a few red lights as I was about to go, and I’ve almost gotten t-boned more times, I’d like to admit. So, that naturally infuriates me.”
Hill also goes on to say that drivers need to use their brains before making any rash decisions.
Dalton Cole, says that the best way to combat road rage is to stay calm.
“The best advice I’d say is just to, overall, stay calm, because the last thing you want is to get angry, because if you get angry, it’ll just, it’ll just most likely make it worse.”
Cole also shares that the way he calms down during situations like road rage is to remember the stories from his dad who was a firefighter.
Fanshawe Student Billy says to think about the other driver in the situation.
“Think about the other person that’s driving there that you might get mad at. They’re a human being too.”
Billy also shares that the other driver might be having a bad day and that they may make mistakes.
The 65-year old man faces four charges including:
- Assault
- Assault Cause Bodily Harm
- Uttering Threats and Careless Driving
