The London area and Canada in general has been hit with extreme cold over the past week.
Making this weather lead more people to plan vacations and go somewhere warmer.
Samantha Harris, an academic integrity advisor at Fanshawe College is one of these many people.
“The chaotic drive, The school cancellations, trying to manage my child where I’m gonna put her, and the cold weather,” said Fanshawe College employee Samantha Harris , listing some reasons she started researching last-minute getaways this week.
Harris shares that she has used Microsoft co-pilot to help her narrow down destinations and help find the cheapest vacation to somewhere warm.
Ann from Budget Travel, a travel agency in London says that usually when the snow hits, is when travel agencies in southwestern Ontario get busier than usual.
Ann also shares that clients are frequenting spots outside of north America.
“For London, because we have non-stop flights going to Cancun, Mexico and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, I would say those ones are probably our most busy mainstream clientele right now.”
Ann also shares that if you are going on a trip and the weather may be bad, to pack extra clothes just in case you get stuck and are stranded for a while.
“Keep spare clothing in your carry-on. So that way, in case checked bags get lost, keep the prescription medications in your carry-on when you’re travelling. Just so that they’re not getting lost in checked luggage.”
The frigid temperatures are expected to continue into next week at the earliest.
