Police have arrested and charged a London man in connection with an overnight weekend shooting in Old East Village.
Police have arrested and charged Matthew Yousufy, 26, of London with the following offences:
- Second-degree murder
- Aggravated assault
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
- Fail to stop for police/pursuit
- Possess restricted or prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a license and registration certificate
- Possess loaded/unloaded regulated firearm
- Three (3) counts of possession of a firearm of ammunition contrary to prohibition order
- Three (3) counts of fail to comply with release order
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
London Police Service responded to a 911 call following the sound of multiple gunshots in the 700-block of Dundas Street, near the Palace Theatre, at approximately 4 a.m. on Sunday.
Police said they found two adult men and transported them to hospital. One man died of his injuries, while the other remains in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities have identified the deceased man as Ramone Thomas, 26, of Toronto.
Police said the accused remains in custody and will appear in London court on February 5, in relation to the charges.
