Provincial police in Central Elgin are investigating a sudden death after a body was found on the side of the road, just south of St. Thomas.
Elgin OPP say emergency crews were called to Sunset Drive shortly after 12:40 a.m. Sunday, where a person was found laying on the side of the road.
Paramedics performed life-saving measures at the scene and transported the female victim to hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.
Sunset Drive was closed as police investigated, but has since reopened.
Police say the investigation is still in its early stages and anyone in the are should expect an increased police presence.
