More than 100 groups have signed up to clean streets, parks, and neighbourhoods as the London Clean & Green campaign returns this month.
The city-wide campaign, running for over 30 years, encourages residents to take part in clean-ups ahead of Earth Day.
Events run from April 7 to April 18 as part of the “12 Days of Cleaning.”
William Roberts, a waste planning coordinator with the City of London, says the campaign highlights litter concerns and community involvement.
“There is a growing litter problem, but there are also more people who care about their community and want to get involved,” he said.
Organizers say much of the litter comes from single-use items such as coffee cups, plastic bottles, and takeout packaging.
The campaign includes the 20-Minute Makeover on April 17, encouraging residents to clean areas around their homes, schools, or workplaces.
A community clean-up will take place on April 18 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Officials say the campaign helps build awareness and encourages long-term behaviour change.
