IKEA is planning to open a new store at White Oaks Mall, giving residents a closer place to shop for furniture.
The store will take over part of the former Hudson’s Bay space and is expected to open in fall 2026. The smaller-format location will focus on basic home items and quick shopping, making it easier for customers to visit.
“It certainly is our hope. They’re bringing about 45,000 square feet of IKEA to the mall,” said Sarah Imrie, marketing manager at White Oaks Mall.
IKEA already has a planning location in London, but the new store will allow customers to buy items in person and order more products online.
Some residents say the new store could make shopping more convenient.
“I think it’s great. Right now we have to drive all the way to Burlington, and that takes a lot of time. Having IKEA here will make things much easier,” one resident said.
IKEA says the smaller store is part of its plan to expand into more communities and improve access for customers.
