As exam season continues at Fanshawe College, students say they are managing stress while balancing studies, work, and busy schedules.
Many students, especially international students, say adjusting to new routines is challenging.
Academics can make exam time more challenging.
“I try to study in small parts instead of doing everything at once, and I make sure I actually understand it before moving on, because that helps me remember better,” said Shubhpreet Singh, a film production student.
Singh says adjusting to a new schedule as an international student can add extra pressure during exams.
Pavneet Kaur, an Early Childhood Education student, says planning her day helps her stay organized during a busy week.
“I usually make a simple plan for my day and try to study a little at a time. I also take breaks so I don’t get too stressed out,” she said, having back-to-back exams this week.
Kaur says balancing work and studies while adjusting to a new routine can be difficult.
Oxford Learning London North Centre director Brian Nellis says these challenges are common during exam season.
He says stress often comes from feeling unprepared due to time-management and organizational issues and suggests slowing down, breaking study material into smaller parts, and checking understanding while reading.
