The Western Fair District has cancelled a number of their trade shows for 2021. These trade shows bring in a wide range of different businesses from South Western Ontario and Michigan for them to market their companies and start building leads.
Operator of Student Works Painting London, Daniel Stretton, has taken part in a number of Western Fair’s Home Improvement shows. They use the shows to market their brand and is one of their main marketing tools every year.
“When I went last year, from Friday to Sunday, I got around 60 leads off of it and I probably sold around $30,000-$35,000 which was 25% of my business.”
The show creates an easier way for these companies to market as the people who pay to attend these events are looking for work to be done. It allows the customers to come to the companies and get a better idea of what the customer is looking for and have a better line of communication.
“When we do door-to-door marketing we’re marketing to houses that we don’t know if those people are going to be interested or not… But what’s good with the shows, you’re getting people who are looking for certain things like a specific contractor. It’s all people who own homes and they’re interested in those kinds of things. It’s by far the easiest way to market our company.”
The Western Fair District has multiple event spaces with a lot of space for people to distance and move around. Stretton is unsure as to why the Western Fair cancelled their shows when the same restrictions are not in place in other venues.
“I get it, but at the same time I feel like if malls are still open there’s no reason for them not to put on the shows. If people wear masks and sanitize it’s the same restrictions that are in place at most places. It’s going to hurt a lot of businesses.”
