Victoria Hospital was the location of choice for a protest yesterday at 2 pm against the mandatory vaccine policy hospitals are implementing, one of several across Canada. The demonstration had a turnout in the 150 to 200 range, most not wearing masks.
Organizing the protests was Canadian Frontline Nurses, an organization self described on their website as “Proud advocates of medical freedom,” The group was founded by several nurses, some of whom had been fired due to their beliefs regarding lockdowns and vaccines.
Along with the presence of CFN, the was another news outlet in the form of independent newspaper Druthers.
Amy Dougal, a volunteer with Druthers, travelled from Wingham to the protest “in support of the nurses and doctors, health care staff, because they are being forced to vaccinate against their wishes”.
When asked why she was choosing to support the cause, Dougal stated she had lost her job due to the pandemic. This, combined with the refusal to take what she calls an “experimental vaccine, it’s safety studies don’t come out until 2023.” A safety study has been published recently, however, with a sample size of 1,736,832, that found the vaccine to be safe, with any major side effects having too small of a rate to be worried about.
On whether she was worried about backlash from hospital workers for protesting outside of hospitals, Dougal said “Everybody is entitled to their opinion.”
Premier Doug Ford commented on the protests on Twitter, stating that healthcare workers didn’t deserve this kind of treatment, and that the protests were “selfish, cowardly and reckless,”
The protests we’re seeing outside of hospitals are selfish, cowardly and reckless. Our health care workers have sacrificed so much to keep us all safe during this pandemic. They don’t deserve this kind of treatment — not now, not ever. Leave our health care workers alone.

The protest was planned to last until the evening, but was forced to end early due to heavy rainfall.
