At the beginning of the pandemic, most provinces in Canada had to unfortunately shut down all schools resulting in online schooling. Last year, schooling was strictly online, but since we’ve been seeing less Covid-19 cases and more people getting fully vaccinated, schools are now opening up.

Jackson Mayer, a forth-year kinesiology student at University of Toronto, has said that even though in person classes have a bit more anxiety he prefers it over online.
Mayer says he stays on track and is more focused in class.
“In person-classes have a little more anxiety because when your going to class you’re in person and you have to study for in person exams, which can be very nerve wrecking at times. I do a little bit better in person mostly because time constraints cause a little bit of due date anxiety so I make sure I’m getting things done.”
With this past year being so difficult and schooling being online, most students struggle with some sort of mental illness. Mayor says that when he had less to do, that’s when he struggled a lot, but once school kicked in, he had more things to focus on.
“When I was in online school I had things to focus on, things to keep me busy, things to keep me company. I was studying with my roommates at the times.”
Jackson then goes on to say how he feels safe now that things are opening up.
“I wear my mask when I’m suppose to, I do all the different check ups and everything like I’m suppose to. I’m not going to say ‘do this, do that’, I’m okay with whatever you want because I’m going to do what I’m going to do and I do it safely.”
Ontario will continue with online classes due to Covid-19 until further notice.
