With winter fast approaching, Middlesex area car enthusiasts look back on this year’s season and all the new cars on the scene. Now all the project cars and daily drivers for the summer are headed back into storage eagerly awaiting next season. But till then, comes more upgrades, fine tuning, and modifications.
Kesly Soeuth, a car enthusiast and apprentice at a car shop, says that this season was a great sight to see after so many years shut due to Covid. “Well over the past year I would say generally the community has been growing with Corona, on all that. There have been restrictions that have stopped some of the events, but with restrictions easing down. The car community has been able to have a couple of meetups this year and come together as a group.” Soeuth responded when asked about the community and how it’s grown.
With the winter, comes tuning and upgrades. Most car enthusiasts know the legal modifications that you can do to your vehicle. But some don’t know that there are illegal modifications as well. “There are a lot of legal modifications going to do with their car. Cosmetically, you can change your wheels, your suspension, keep your car lower ride. Things where laws get broken is where people start doing straight pipe exhausts. Strict pipe exhaust is where people delete their mufflers and resonators or the exhaust system, so it’s just straight piping from their motor back with that they’re violations of noise bylaws.” Soeuth replied when asked about modifications and their legality.
Social media and enthusiasts alike have created a better avenue for the car scene to become more mainstream. Mainstream viewing will bring more attraction and more new faces alongside. “Well, there’s two things I would say. Um, one thing would be whatever you want to do your car, whatever it is, it’s not going to happen overnight. Um, the way I look at it is the car is a long lasting project. Anything could happen to your car, and you can pretty much do anything to your car as well. But something else I would tell someone getting into cars is if you’re going to do something to your car, do it right. You better safe than sorry, down the road doing something the improper way compared to doing something the proper way and being safe.” Soeuth said if there was any advice that he would give a new car enthusiast getting into the scene.
