Five Takeaways from Week 11 of the NFL Season

The NFL Season is coming into its last couple of months, and the race for the playoffs is heating up. Divisions like the NFC South are as close as they can get with every team still in the running. However, players like Jonathan Taylor and Patrick Mahomes are increasing their lead in the stats leaderboards. Games keep getting more interesting as the weeks go on, but here are the five biggest takeaways for Week 11 of the NFL season.

Lions fail to win their first game… again!

It has become an expectation to hear that the Lions lost again. The team has been drained of talent by free agency and now are rebuilding for what feels like the 3rd time in 7 years. Matthew Stafford being traded in return for Jared Goff in the offseason has done nothing for what is a sad situation for Detroit fans. This past weekend the Lions lost a winnable game to the Browns 13-10. Despite the lackluster talent on the Lions, all they needed was a big play to win the game, but they couldn’t pull it off. As every week passes, it seems more and more likely the Lions will not win a single game this season. But, at least they will then have the first overall pick in the NFL Draft to look forward to.

Are the Packers a legitimate contender?

The Packers once again lost a game that should not have been close. This time it was against the Minnesota Vikings. Now don’t get me wrong, the Vikings are not a terrible team. But the Packers are a far better team and should beat them. The Vikings won the game 34-31 in a close battle. The saying does go that any team can win on ‘Any Given Sunday.’ But they should be winning these kinds of games for the Packers to be considered a legitimate contender for the Super Bowl.

Cowboys and Bills continue struggling in big games

The story has been similar for the Dallas Cowboys and Buffalo Bills this season. When it comes to big games, they lose. For the Cowboys in the two most significant tests of their season, they faced the two teams who played in the Super Bowl last season. Those teams are the Buccaneers and the Chiefs. Unfortunately, the Cowboys failed to beat both teams bringing concerns to the team’s ability to win big games as the playoffs get closer. For the Bills, the Steelers and Colts have proven to be contenders in the AFC playoff race. Unfortunately, the Bills lost by a lot to both of those teams this season. It is great that the Bills can dominate bad teams, but if they can’t pull out big games, it will be an early exit for Buffalo in the playoffs.

Cardinals remain the league’s best team

There has been one constant this NFL Season, and that is that the Cardinals are the best team in the NFL. They currently sit at the top of the standings at 9-2 and have one of the most complete teams in the league. They should finish atop the league at this season’s end, too, as they only have two more difficult matchups against the Colts and Cowboys. So in 6 weeks, expect the Cardinals to be the favorites to make it to the Super Bowl.

Patriots win streak at five straight

The Patriots have extended the highest win streak in the NFL this season. They now have won 5 straight games. This has left the Patriots at the top of their division and in a good spot for the upcoming playoff run. Patriots rookie Quarterback Mac Jones has been a big reason the Patriots have been so consistent as he has led the team well. The Patriots blanked the Falcons this week 25-0 in a game that was not even close. Looking to the future, the Patriots have a few challenging games coming up against the Bills, Titans, and Colts. Time will tell if the Patriots can keep the streak alive.
