Students crowding on to the 91 Express Bus at a Fanshawe College stop.
Your bus routes might be changing next year. The LTC have approved a draft plan for service changes in 2022.
A number of routes will be altered, including a few going to Fanshawe.
Most, like routes 20, 25, and 36 will see the frequency of buses go up, with route 36 having a more drastic change planned. It will split into two A and B routes to serve Fanshawe’s Aviation program, Amazon’s planned facility, and the airport.
Amazon’s new facility is expected to have a lot of traffic. While exact numbers are not known, the LTC is planning accordingly.
- Weekday– increase frequency from 20 to 15 minutes between 9 am and 2 pm
Route 25
- Weekday– increase frequency from 30 to 20 minutes from 7 am to 2pm, 6pm to 9pm
Route 36
- Introduce an A and B Routing with Route 36A serving the Airport and the current Industrial area south of Oxford and Route 36 serving the airport and the Industrial area north of Oxford
- Weekday– Increase frequency from 30 to 15 between 6am to 6pm
- Weekday– Extend service to 7:30 pm on a 15 minute interval
Another route that goes by the school is the 17, an often crowded bus. It was voted on a year ago that the 91 would extend to argyle mall, in a hope to alleviate some of that crowdedness. Now it’s been deferred another year. The reason being that other projects need more attention.
This is only the draft plan. A more comprehensive one will be voted on by the commission on March 30th of next year.
