Starting today, anyone in Ontario over the age of 18 is now eligible for the bivariate COVID-19 booster shot. This dose is aimed at protecting against targeted Omicron variants. A new paediatric Pfizer vaccine will also be available for children aged six months to 5 years of age.
People over the age of 70 and immunocompromised individuals age 12 and up are highly recommended to get the bivariate as soon as possible, s the province would prioritize them until Sep. 26th. All other adults were able to book their appointment since Sept. 12th
“With the start of fall and winter respiratory illness season, it is especially important to make sure people stay up to date with their vaccines.” Ministry of Health, Sylvia Jones.
In a news release, Deputy Premier and Ministry of Health Sylvia Jones said, ” COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters are the best tool to keep people healthy and out of hospitals, and to ensure Ontario’s economy stays open as the weather cools and people spend more time indoors.”
The ministry said people who are eligible for the booster can do at a recommended interval of six months from their last dose, or a minimum interval of three months regardless of how many boosters they’ve had.
The paediatric Pfizer vaccine for infants and children six months to five years has a recommended dosing interval of eight weeks prior to last dose. Children should not mix the product they received, whether it was Pfizer of Moderna.

You can receive the shot at the Health Unit’s Western Fair Agriplex and Caradoc Community Centre Mass Vaccination Clinics. The Clinic in Mount Brydges will be extending its hours to 11:00am to 6:00pm Monday to Friday.
