Olympic gold medalist Damien Warner was celebrated by his friends and family today, as he received his Canada walk of fame plaque to honour his on and off-track achievements. Damien was greeted by guest speaker Mayor Ed Holder, as well as other premier sponsors for the Canada walk of life such as Scotiabank , CBG, and Cineplex.
Canada walk of fame has celebrated various stellar Canadians and is an organisation that acknowledges the achievements and accomplishments of Canadians who have excelled in their respective fields. As such Damian Warner falls into that category not only for his tremendous athletic work but also how he gives back to the community.
During the ceremony the boys and girls club of London said they would donate $5000 dollars to the organisation, the same organisation that Damien partook in when he was growing up.
Damien expressed his thanks to many people who helped him along the way, one group of people he pointed was his team around him and how their support has this all possible.
During his speech, Damian referred to the importance of his team, with people doubting them” you can’t get it done with them” and “ they aren’t qualified enough “. Warner has kept his team from the moment he joined the sport and proved all the doubters wrong. He looks to continue his great career as he prepares for the 2024 Olympic games.
