The Turkey-Syria earthquake that occurred last week was one of the worst natural disasters in that region’s in recent history and clean-up efforts as well as rescue have been underway for the last several days. In that time numerous go fund me pages and charities have popped in an attempt to help provide financial aid for families and rescue.
Queen’s University student Guven Demiral says “I felt like I needed
to do something to help”.
Guven is a professional video game player in the world of Call Of Duty “Warzone” and has amassed a “Twitch” following of just under 900 with a twitter that growing steadily.
He uses the streaming platform “Twitch” to give easy access for donations.
Guven mentions that its not about the the exposure that he gets personally but how much exposure his charity UNITED STATES ASSOCIATION FOR UNHCR (The United Nations Refugee Agency)
On top of his efforts to help back home like many other Guven has been impacted mentally as many of his friends and family have been impacted and some of his friends have yet to reach back to him however he says that streaming and playing games which are two of his favorite things help him get through it while raising awareness for the situation back home in Turkey.
