The Forest City Gallery is peaking the interest of London students.
The local London Gallery is attracting Western and Fanshawe art students with it’s student driven exhibits, collaborative ventures, and workshops. The artist run centre is working in an effort to promote more student involvement and activity, and appeal to a younger crowd of Londoners.
Some of these events include an annual student Meet and Greet, and upcoming workshops on resume and portfolio branding. The current exhibit, Uncooperative, is a compilation of work from artists who were students at Western and Fanshawe.

When established in 1973, FCG was one of the first few artist run centres in London. According to Gallery Director Jenna Powell, artist run centres were “anti establishment art galleries,” allowing for innovation, creativity and risk. The FCG celebrated 40 years in 2013.
According to Fine Arts Major Lucas Cabral, it is important for arts students to “volunteer and get involved outside of the classroom” more than do well in class. His internship at the FCG helped introduce him to many different facets of the London art community.
