Yesterday the Fanshawe Falcons had a basketball game against the Canadore Panthers. This was a big game for the Falcons after a tough loss to the St.Clair Saints on Friday night. And Fanshawe delivered with a great game.
The game started out all Fanshawe in the first quarter, as Fanshawe jumped out to an early 33-15 lead over the Panthers. They were playing great defence as well as hitting the outside shot early an often.
Heading into the second quarter the falcons cooled off a little bit as the panthers closed the gap by a small margin. And the Falcons defence started getting a little inconsistent then it was in the first quarter. Heading in to half-time the Falcons had a 60-35 lead over the Panthers.
In the third quarter the Falcons continued with their high percentage looks and hitting their shots. However it was in the second half where the Falcons started to get into turnover troubles. The Falcons ended the game with 30 turnover and allowed 38 points off of turnovers. If it was not for their hot shooting the game would have been closer. Fanshawe did manage to score 30 points in the quarter making it their second most productive quarter in the game.
In the fourth quarter the Panthers managed to outscore the Falcons 24 to 13 but the lead was just to much for the Panthers to overcome and Fanshawe managed to get the win by a score of 103 to 76.
The Falcons scoring leader for the game was Aidan Whalen who scored 26 points on a very productive 10-13 from the field. Whalen was also 4-5 from the free throw line as well as grabbing seven boards and five assists.
Fanshawe’s next game will be on November 11th at 3pm as they looked to get over 500 for the first time this season.
