Fanshawe’s 95,000-square-foot facility, Innovation Village, is now open to students, faculty, and the public. Construction began in 2020, and the space was unveiled with much excitement from Fanshawe students on its opening day.

“So my first reaction was wow, this is really amazing. It’s a new space for us, students to explore and hang with our friends. It’s really amazing. I love it. This is really important for us and I’m so happy to see that everything is ready to be used and this is awesome,” says an International Student.
A Fanshawe student, Dalton Verstegen, was impressed by the architecture of the newly built space.
“It was pretty cool. We walked around and saw some pretty interesting things around here. I like seeing the newer type of style of buildings like seeing the patterns on the glass and just seeing all the types of different rooms that have been kind of brought in,” says Verstegen.
An employee of the Office of Registrar, Krista Vogt, took a look and loved what she saw.
“I was so super excited because I work here and it’s an open space and it’s fresh. It’s clean. I love the artwork. I love the colors,” says Vogt.
The artwork, architecture, and cleanliness of this new space have impressed everyone with its appearance. It is not only a space for people to explore; it is also a collaborative space for students.
“There’s a lot of collaborative spaces. You get someone from fine arts working with someone from graphic design, working with someone in our engineering programs to come together,” says Vogt.
A student in her final year, Jazz Flannery, is enthralled to have a collaborative space to work with others and to know that future students will be able to get that experience.
“I think it’s really awesome that they did this because just finding spaces on campus to work and collaborate I think is really hard sometimes, and being in third year and having to graduate in the spring. I’m excited for the people coming in into first year at Fanshawe so that they get to experience that space and work in that space and I think it’s a really good idea, it’s really amazing,” says Flannery
Fanshawe’s grand opening day was a success.
