For the longest time, Content Creation was considered a hobby. Something to do in your free time away from your real job that paid the bills. But what if Content Creation could do that? What if Content Creation could be an actual job?
We took a look at the new and upcoming Industry in the world known as Content Creation and how it can be something people pursue.
He also takes a look at how the Marketing Industry plays a role in Content Creation and how both can be beneficial towards each other. I recently had the chance to speak to local Content Creator John Duncan also known as Shot by JD, to talk about the Content Creation Industry and the many things that come with deciding to be someone within this career.
“I’ve been doing Content Creation for the last couple of years, and I haven’t really started taking it seriously until the last couple of years so finally I’m getting myself out there, making a name for myself and networking with people.”
John is not only a Content Creator, but also pursuing a Film program here at Fanshawe. He continued to talk about his career, and the
many things that inspire and keep him motivated in an Industry like this.
“Other than fighting your own battle of am I good enough which is a question I ask myself constantly, and the only reason i ask myself that is because the day I say I’ve made it is the day I quit. So I’m gonna continue to doubt myself and question myself, I do that for other reasons as to keep me going and to keep me doing better and that’s not said for everybody, that’s just me.”
JD even gave a retrospect on how Content Creation can affect your Mental Health and Stress.
“Other than meeting Deadlines, I have none. I live a very peaceful and amazing life, I can kind of do whatever I want, Whenever I want. I have enough financial freedom to support that right now because of it, whereas someone in the trades they make good money but they don’t have that freedom or much of a social life. There whole life consists of work, work work.”
He finished by saying how with his content creation he’s able to feel a lot less pressure when he has his own schedule.
“I have videos on the back burner right now that I have to get back too, But I know as soon as I get back that’s money in my pocket and i can take that break and do it, because I have a deadline to meet. I have enough time in my day, do something like this, go back home do something else I enjoy and still make money. It’s like I said, It’s just peaceful honestly.”
Content Creation is a new and upcoming industry. And it may not be your standard traditional trades job like a mechanic or plumber, but it’s an industry that’s worth fighting for and seeing through.
