For the first time ever in Canada, a fully net-zero community has implemented parking towers that emit a low carbon footprint. On Eve Parks website they claim to be ” the first community of its kind: a net-zero energy community designed for the future.”
Eve Park is located on 2100 Lumen Drive, London Ontario and the neighborhood features four residential clusters that spread out across 3.5 acres of land.
Derek Satnik the vice president of technology for Sun to Earth (S2E) which are the developers of the condos spoke about how this was possible.
“I would say that if there was any one thing that’s changed here is that we got the council support it, and that they really believe in what we’re doing. They’re trying to help us just get through the process because it’s quite a process. Especially if you’re trying anything new.” Says Satnik.
The community is near the West Five townhomes complex. A feature that is available for the neighborhood is the option to share an electrical vehicle if you need a second car instead of owning two cars.
This is a step in the goal of each homeowner having only one car which will reduce the carbon footprint of the community.
