Fanshawe College offers a wide variety of programs, so there needs to be representatives making sure the needs of the college’s departments are met. Those running for Student Administrative Council (SAC) positions are hoping to interact with their fellow students for the school they represent.
Alan Bushell, President of the Fanshawe Student Union (FSU), explained that since Fanshawe has many schools representing a variety of programs, the SAC representative focuses on the specific issues affecting their school. For example, the School of Information Technology would look at what students think about taking classes at the former Kingsmill’s building. However, since the location hasn’t been finalized yet, students haven’t said much about it.
“Once we get closer to the launch date, we’ll probably be getting a lot of feedback,” Bushell said, “When the new facilities open up, I will imagine it will give a great number of opportunities to make Fanshawe even better.”
The FSU President said there are both students who care about the SAC, and those who don’t, but “what really matters is the positive effects the SAC has on the rest of the students.”
He added there are still nominations needed for the School of Tourism and Hospitality, the School of Building Technology, and the School of Science Technology.
Students can cast their vote for SAC on October 6 and 7, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
