London Fire welcomed the public to its headquarters to celebrate the lives of its fallen members.
The annual ceremony took place Thursday morning, and honoured the lives of Capt. Don Varey and Capt. Brent Fenrie, who died while serving the community.
“We utilize this day to also remember London firefighters that made the ultimate sacrifice and service of this community.” said President of the London Professional Firefighters Association Jason Timlick.
Thursday marks the 24th anniversary of the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center in New York.
Timlick said “Obviously the events of 9/11 were very tragic, many lives lost, and we like to never forget.”
The families of Varey and Fenrie were honoured at the ceremony and presented medals to commemorate their sacrifice and bravery.
