A 22-year-old man is being charged with assault with a weapon after stabbing a man in downtown London, leaving him seriously injured, on Wednesday afternoon.
Police say officers were called around 3:30 p.m. to the 300 block of Simcoe Street, where they found a man suffering from stab wounds. The victim was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was able to identify the suspect.
Officers arrested a man near William and King streets about two hours later. The man remains in custody and was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
The incident marks the second stabbing in London this week. Early on Monday, police found a man critically injured with a stab wound near Hamilton Road and Inkerman Street. The victim has since been released from the hospital, and police say the suspect in that case has not been located.
