An Indian restaurant on Wellington Road is ending its 40-year operation due to a site needed for the expanding bus express transit system.
The restaurant said in a post on Facebook announcing its closing on November 30, “We are being HIT BY THE BUS. The city’s BRT is running right through our building.”
Curry’s Restaurant owners Pramod and Susan Kukadia received an expropriation notice from the city on September 23.
According to the notice, the city will take over the property on November 10.
The city is preparing for the second phase of the Wellington Gateway rapid transit project that will see construction begin between Watson and Wilkins streets on Wellington Road in 2026.
