With Ontario’s Solicitor General claiming Marineland’s 30 beluga whales are “not in Ontario’s jurisdiction” the pressure is on the Federal government to approve export permits to both China and Nova Scotia.
This come after plans have been approved for Canada’s first-ever whale sanctuary coming to Nova Scotia.
The location will be in Hilford Bay with Animal Justice saying it will be a home “100 times larger than Marineland’s cramped tanks”.
However, the sanctuary would be able to take only 10 of the 30 whales.
Marineland says there are no other alternatives in the world other than China’s Chimelong Ocean Kingdom, which has enough room for all 30 belugas.
