The London Downtown Business Association (LDBA) held its 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the London Music Hall.
The AGM served as both a review of the past year’s work and a look ahead to what’s next for the downtown community. Interim executive director Vicki Smith said the gathering was an important opportunity to connect with members.
“The downtown AGM is basically a time where we really recognize all the members, we recognize the work that the board has done, and we bring everybody together, we want to make sure that we are on the right track,” Smith said.
Smith also outlined her vision for 2026, noting that momentum is building as new residential and commercial projects near completion.
“For 2026, we want continued momentum, more feet on the street, more festivals and events happening,” she said. “We already know that there’s going to be more residents down here because some of the towers are going to be completed by mid to late 2026. The downtown is vibrant, there is lots of momentum, it is moving forward.”
Her comments reflected optimism about the downtown’s growth with more opportunities for local businesses expected in the coming year.
Chair of the board of directors, Kristen Nielsen said continued progress on safety remains a key part of building a thriving downtown.
“The success would be making advances or continuing on the downward trend of the incidences that the London Police Service are reporting,” Nielsen said. “We’ve made some really, really good progress in that direction, ensuring that people are safe, feel safe and continue to be safe.”
Nielsen emphasized safety as a measure of downtown success that depends on collaboration and community engagement.
From business recovery to new investments and cultural events, this year’s AGM underscored how far downtown London has come, and how much opportunity lies ahead.
