Squid Game: The Challenge had its newest season come out earlier in November and we saw a local Londoner in it.
Selena Farrugia was named as contestant #119 during the show.
She says “over 200,000 people applied to be on this season of Squid Game: The Challenge season two, and only 456 were chosen.”
Once she got chosen she was put on a flight to the UK where she had to isolate for three days while the producers were getting everything finalized.
The original reason why she decided to audition in the first place was because she was supposed to be on the show with her sister.
Farrugia also mentions that she was one of the only Canadians on the show which was a massive accomplishment for her.
With Farrugia showcasing even people who are living in smaller cities can be on these shows, she wants everybody who is interested in a show like this to apply “I find when people start kind of going out there from London, Ontario. It’s a massive thing because it just makes it feel like it’s possible.”
“You just need to be yourself. They’re looking for your personality. Just be bubbly, be outgoing, be weird, be funny.” Is what Farrugia says when talking about the auditioning process.
Although it is absolutely a once in a lifetime opportunity being on a show like this, there are still some challenging things that happen on the show. “The most challenging thing was the food and the sleep. I did not get any sleep in the hotel for the three days, I didn’t sleep a single minute.” Farrugia says.
Even though she was not on the show until the end. Farrugia says she still learned a lot of life lessons while being on the show. “The biggest lesson I’ve learned is just do whatever you want to do. No matter what you think is going to come out of it, chase your dreams and just keep going.”
The hope is high for Londoner’s with Selena’s story showcasing that if you keep working at your dream. Good things will happen for the end result.
