London Santa Claus Parade was back last Saturday.
This parade was started from the Western Fair District at 6 pm.
The London Santa Claus Parade has celebrated the season as well as our London Middlesex Community since 1956 and every year the parade is made possible by the countless volunteers and sponsors.
It was not just a normal parade.
This event basically marks the beginning of the donation season with support from several organizations, including the London Food Bank.
Executive Director and Chairman of the London Santa Claus Parade Shaun Merton said the event has 12 more entries from last year.
“The theme was different. Santa’s Rockin’ Wonderland really made people get a lot of creativity in their floats.”
Merton also said he doesn’t want to give up his goals even if it becomes increasingly difficult to find sponsors for the parade.
“Just to keep the good family values in London and keep entertaining people at the best value that we can.”
Most Londoners said that they liked the parade. They explained what was the best part of the parade.
“It was fantastic,” said Jasmine Little, who came to watch the parade with her son, Miles. “There were so many floats, so many lights, so much music.”
“It was really good. It was like really festive and I really felt the holiday like joy from it,” said Kyleah Wilding, a grade twelve student. “Definitely seeing Santa and all the people dancing.”
Kyleah’s friend Katie also said that the parade was really fun.
“There was a lot of holiday spirit. So it was nice. The snow and all the lights that are around because they’re very jazzy.”
“Yeah, the event was good,” said Josh Skinner, Apprentice Electrician, who came with his family. “It was really fun for the kids, especially. We really liked the dance academies and the music, the arts, the singing.”
Merton said that he appreciated to everyone who participated in the event.
“Thank you very much for coming out and enjoying it. The food bank got 3,740 pounds of food, which is really, really good. I really want to see that everybody is happy and we’ll see them all again next year.”
The event is a holiday event that returns annually, and can be re-watched on the live stream.
