Inside Canada Life Place there were sombreros, tacos, tequila, and even live mariachi bands and even Lucha Libre wrestling.
That’s because Canada Life Place hosted it’s 7th annual tequila expo. The event ran for 7 hours with it just not being about drinking.
Promoter of the event Pablo Tovar says “we’re bringing all the tequila to all of Canada to educate people about tequila and mezcal.”
Tovar continues, “You know, it’s not just about getting a shot and getting drunk. It’s also about a lot of history with the tequilas.”
The event means so much to Tovar because he was raised in London and he loves the city a ton so he wants to bring more culture to London through food and drinks.
The event is something that has been going around all over Canada.
“We travel all around Ontario. We even did our first shows in New Brunswick back in April which was a total success.”
Most of the vendors at the event were also local vendors. Although most vendors were selling food/drinks, some vendors even sold masks, clothes, hats and even hot sauces.
For food/drink options, they had 4 different food vendors and 20 different tequila/mezcals.
The drinks are made from small companies from Mexico and not big named ones you could find at an LCBO. “We work with a lot of private agencies who are bringing all different tequilas and mezcals that are exclusive to small companies.”
The event also had two seminars which attendees could go to.
Tovar says he wants to hear that the audience wants for future events.
“I just want to hear about what else people want. Do we want more tequila brands? do we want more mezcals?”
Tovar typically gets 1500-2000 people at these events and that was the number he believe he got this event.
