United Way Elgin-Middlesex celebrated the successful ending of its first-ever Ultimate Burger Battle. It was a month-long community fundraiser that brought a total of 18 local restaurants together to find who made the “ultimate burger.”
The celebration of the event was at Tiger Jack’s Bar & Grill with some of the chefs being there along with some of the burger ambassadors.
$2 dollars from every burger sold went to the United Way Elgin Middlesex with some restaurants even donation more then the $2 dollar per burger amount.
Director of marketing & communications for United Way Elgin-Middlesex Chris McGinnis, says the donations are going to be put to very good use.
“We fund over 44 programs at United way, so the donations go towards everything from healthy food through neighborhood resource centers to helping people find shelter, mental health supports, counseling for people in crisis, and even recreational programs for kids.”
The celebration took place at Tiger Jack’s with 3 different awards being handed out: the ultimate burger, most sold, and people’s choice.
Craft Farmacy won the most sold award with 886 burgers sold followed by House Craft Burgers with 565 burgers and Tiger Jack’s with 521
The peoples choice was House craft burger with 600 votes. Second place went to Tiger Jack’s and third was Cintro.
And the winner of the ultimate burger was Los Olivos with the “lucy goosey juicy”
The fundraiser ended up receiving $57,000 with all the different restaurants selling over 500 burgers.
