London’s annual sledge hockey tournament wrapped up over the weekend.
The annual London Blizzard Invitational hosted 40 teams from across the Untied States and Canada.
Chris Wood, president of the London Sledge Hockey Club talks about the future of the tournament.
“We had a fantastic turnout. We had about 40 teams that showed up. So going ahead in the future, we’re aiming for 50 teams and hopefully reach that next season”; said Wood.
Wood also talked about why the tournament is import to hold every year.
“It’s one of our major fundraisers that we have. It’s also important to the sledge hockey players for the competition. It’s one of the largest sledge hockey tournaments in the world, and they just love to come with the competition.”
Wood also went into detail about what the tournament means to the London community as well as hockey fans in general.
“Well, it brings out teams from all over Canada and the States, so people get to reconnect with people they haven’t seen in a long time, and at the tournament is basically the only time they get to connect with some of these people.”
