Students came together Monday evening for a free EA Sports FC game night at Forwell Hall on Fanshawe College’s London Campus. The event gave students a chance to play, watch games, and compete for prizes in a fun, friendly environment.
Fofo, a producer with Fuel Esports, explained that the monthly FIFA night is part of a series of gaming events that also include Super Smash Bros. and Chess. The top three players can win money, and we have both Xbox and PlayStation consoles set up so everyone can join in, she said.
Mohamed Obied, captain of EAFC at Fanshawe and a regular tournament winner, said the competition was exciting and brought out the best in players. “I like the competition, and it’s exciting to win. I want everyone to bring their best and enjoy the vibes,” he said.
Even students playing for the first time said the event was fun and welcoming. One student said, “I was a bit nervous coming in, but everyone’s really good here, and it’s always fun to play. Another added, It’s competitive but really friendly, and I made some new friends while trying the tournament.
Fuel Esports hosts these events every month, rotating different games. The goal is not just competition but also helping students meet new people and connect with others who like gaming.
With multiple consoles, prizes for the top players, and a friendly atmosphere, Fuel Esports game nights are becoming popular on campus. Students of all skill levels are welcome, whether they are experienced gamers or trying EA Sports FC for the first time.
Fofo said the club plans to continue hosting monthly tournaments and hopes more students will join the fun. Events like this show how gaming can bring students together and create a sense of community on campus.
