Fanshawe College hosted a new event today that allowed past graduates and current entrepreneurs to showcase their businesses.
The event attracted interest from students and faculty, all participating to give local businesses a chance to display their products. Two owners at the event spoke to XFM about their businesses and what they offer.
Jonathan Hudson, owner of Visions From The Other Side, described his business as a clothing brand based on philosophy and storytelling.
“It’s a clothing brand that’s based in philosophy and storytelling. The way I go about it is each collection is a story. They’re usually interconnected. The past collection goes into the next collection,” Hudson said.
“I’m trying to make the story something that will help people’s lives.”
Hudson added that the event has helped him so far, calling it “a huge help.” He said one of the best aspects is interacting with people in person.
“Being an online business — or any business nowadays — you operate so much online. You lose a bit of that humility and actual connection with customers and real people, instead of just through a screen.”
Also featured was Cool Cranny Crocheting, owned by Sakshi Jadhav. She described her business as a handmade crochet gift shop.
“It’s all about handmade crochet gifting stuff,” Jadhav said.
“When we hear granny, we associate it with crochet or knitting. So that’s how I came up with the name. I started it back during COVID, and I’ve been doing it since.”
Dozens of businesses were on display, and many of the owners left happy and proud to share their work.
