A Canadian army soldier who died during a deployment to Latvia is being repatriated in Trenton on Tuesday.
Gunner Sebastian Halmagean, 24, who died Jan. 29 during his deployment on Operation REASSURANCE is being brought back to Canada.
The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) said in a media release Halmagean will arrive by aircraft at 2:30 p.m. at Canadian Forces Base Trenton and a procession along the Highway of Heroes to Toronto will follow.
The circumstances surrounding Halmagean’s death is under investigation by Canadian military police and Latvian state police.
Halmagean was originally from Hamilton and was posted to the 4th Artillery Regiment in Oromocto, N.B.
The ceremony will be live streamed on the CAF’s Facebook page, beginning at 2:45 p.m.
