Fanshawe’s basketball star Ashlyn Anderson was named to the CCAA All-Canadian team, OCAA West Division First Team All-Star and was named the OCAA West Division Defensive Player of the Year.
The second-year star had a dominant regular season, leading the OCAA in field goal percentage, blocks, rebounds and finished sixth in points per game. She improved in every stat from her rookie season.
“All the extra time that I didn’t spend on (training) last year,” Anderson said. “Just putting in a lot more effort this year and focusing on my game has helped me grow a lot.”
Anderson ended the regular season with 49 blocks, the most in Fanshawe history. She is the fourth woman to win defensive player of the year for the Falcons.
Anderson finished the regular season with;
- 15.9 points per game
- 13.4 rebounds per game
- 1.6 assists per game
- 3.1 blocks per game
- 2.4 steals per game
- 56.5 field goal percentage
Anderson was consistent all year, starting with a 14-game block streak, and getting a double-double in every game of 2026. Her dominant defense was a major impact on Fanshawe women’s basketball team having the best defense in the OCAA West Division.
Head Coach Bill Carriere credits the assistant coaches for the team’s dominance on defense.
“Well we have coaches for that, and I’m not necessarily one of them,” Carriere said. “It’s nice to have other coaches that can help out in that regard.”
The Falcons are set to face off against the Seneca Sting in the OCAA Quarterfinals. Seneca finished as the best defense in the OCAA East Division.
The Falcons and Sting will face off on Feb. 28 at noon.
