“I think that once we hit the ice, fans can expect a team that’s going to work really hard,” said General Manager, Kelli Corpse.
The local development league had gone through many changes during the season, after a rash of departures in January.
“We had some guys in the room at the start of the year that didn’t want to be here, so they were moved out. We brought in players that want to be Nationals, and the guys seem to get along really well.”
Amid playoffs pressures, London Nationals captain Matthew Blake said they’re confident in their games against the Stratford Warriors.
“Overall, I think our chemistry is clicking now.”
During their Thursday evening practice ahead of their first playoffs game, the team focused on tightening their play.
“It’s the playoffs. You don’t get points for playing good, you got to win,” said assistant coach Rumun Ndur.
Former NHL-er, Ndur, said the team is really rounding into form heading into the race for the Sutherland Cup.
“We’re ready to go, and we want to do great things for this team.”
The London Nationals will face the Stratford Warriors for their first series in the GOHL playoffs.
