Bluewater Health in Sarnia has recently received a large $5 million donation from the Gordon foundation. A large portion of this donation will be invested into future cardiac care.
“We’ve been working very closely with the ministry and the Cardiac care network to increase specialized cardiac care in Sarnia” Says Dr. Mike Haddad, chief of staff and VP of medical affairs at Bluewater health. “We want to increase the scope of what we can do locally so patients don’t have to travel to London as much. The Gordon foundation heard about our efforts and were keen to help us out.”
The rest of the funding from this donation will be used to help buy needed supplies that Bluewater Health needs to properly support it’s community. “It really allows the hospital and the hospital foundation to have the ability to purchase new equipment that is identified as the highest priority need of the organization.” says executive director at Bluewater health, Kathy Alexander. ” (This donation) allows us to purchase things that we may otherwise might not have been able to.”
The Gordon foundation, led by Ron Gordon, is an organization that consists primarily of Ron and his sons. They have a long history of supporting the local community through similar donations.
“They have a long standing relationship with Healthcare, not just with Bluewater Health.” Says Alexander. “They’re just such a wonderful and caring family, and very generous, and local healthcare Bluewater Health was an area of interest and priority for them after conversations and understanding about what we were hoping to put into place at Bluewater Health in the future.”
