Nearly half of the tickets sold for this year’s Forest City Film Festival (FFCF) were bought outside of London, organizers say.
The annual festival is getting ready to starts it’s four-day run on Thursday, showing up to 140 films that give local creatives a chance in the spotlight.
“About 40% of our ticket sales are from outside of London… which is huge!” said Ethan Hickey, a Western graduate with international acclaim from 4 films and executive director of the festival.
This year marks the 11th annual Forest City Film Festival, which has been growing every year since 2016 and with this one featuring big names such as hometown hero Jay Baruchel.
Baruchel will play the main character in The Stunt Driver, directed by London’s Michael Dowse, which is featured at the festival this Thursday.
As the FFCF becomes a bigger name the events in the city are thrilled to see an influx of not only locals but people from all over coming to see what the creative minds in London have to offer.
“Everything is bigger this year, and it’s really showing great growth,” Hickey said.
The festival runs between Oct. 15-25 with most major events happening within the first four days, to open up the excitement a gala will be hosted at Goodwill Industries and sponsored by London Hydro.
Tourism is expected to see a boom as London continues to show its leaves.
