Middlesex County OPP is investigating a report of large copper theft from Weldon Park in Middlesex Centre.
About $4,500 worth of copper wire was stolen, police said.
On October 9 around 12:20 p.m., OPP officers responded to a call at the Richmond Street park and determined that one or more people broke into several light standards at one of the ball diamonds overnight and stole the copper wire.
“We always try to have a good police presence throughout our communities that we police,” said Const. Jeff Hare, who is the community engagement officer. “We really rely on members of the public to help us out. If you see a suspicious person or vehicle give us a shout,” Hare said
The investigation is continuing. Police ask anyone with information to contact OPP Middlesex County or Crime Stoppers.
