After their 7-1 win over the Saginaw Spirit Friday night, the Knights shut the Mississauga Steelheads out on Saturday with a final score of 5-0. Christian Dvorak scored two goals, one on a power play and one short handed, while Olli Juolevi, JJ Piccinich, and Max Jones scored a goal each. This was also goaltender Tyler Parsons’ first home ice shut out of the season, but he credits his team mates as much as himself.
“They make it easy for me. I [saw] I think 24 shots, and they kept the guys out, and some distance shots… They played really well in front of me tonight.”
London also out shot Mississauga 31-24, and was handed 13 of 27 penalties during the game. Centre Christian Dvorak says that while these can be avoided, he enjoys the power play advantage that can come along with it.
“I think we were just both playing hard games out there, and the refs were kind of calling a little bit more than we’re used to, but we executed on the power play… I think we’ve just got to be a little more disciplined, but I was fine with it. Both teams took a lot of penalties, but like I said, we executed on the power play.”
Dvorak is now one goal behind Erie Otters right wing Alex Debrincat so far this season with 33, and Max Jones’ goal was his 20th of the season.
The Knights are back in action Tuesday night when they head to Kitchener to face off against the Rangers.
