People are being fooled more than ever to fake news. Fake news websites publish hoaxes, propaganda, and disinformation to help web traffic by way of social media.
With Fake news popping up over different social media outlets. Romayne Smith Fullerton a Professor in the Faculty of Media Studies at Western University says it’s about being smart news consumers. Fullerton was able to present her thoughts on news consumption at Westerns Public Interest Lecture Series Wednesday night.
She mentioned things like checking sources, looking at other news outlets and not believing everything you read over social media are just a few things people can do to help build better news consumption habits.
While social media sites like Facebook are putting work to help get rid of Fake Headlines and News. Fullerton wanted people to know if you care about the news you consume it’s important to dig into the story to make sure the story is news, and to maybe save some later confusion.
